3M-Matic Case Taper

• Sealing corrugated cardboard boxes in packaging lines.
• Automating the closure of filled cases in manufacturing facilities.
• Securing cartons for shipment in distribution centres.
• Applying adhesive tape to both top and bottom flaps simultaneously.

Typical throughput

Typically, units of this type can process 20-30 cases per minute, depending on case size and operator interaction.

Power supply

Commonly, these machines require a single-phase electrical supply, typically 230V, 50Hz, with a low amperage draw.

Suitable case dimensions

For this class of equipment, it typically handles a wide range of case sizes, with minimum and maximum dimensions varying by specific model, often adjustable for length, width, and height.

Tape type

Units like the 3M-Matic 39600 are designed for standard packaging tapes, typically 48mm or 72mm wide BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) adhesive tape.

Frame construction

The painted frame indicates a robust construction, commonly steel, suitable for industrial environments.

Operation mode

These are typically semi-automatic machines, requiring an operator to feed the cases, or can be integrated into an automated line with conveyors.

• What maintenance is typically required for a used case taper?

Routine maintenance commonly involves cleaning tape residue, checking and lubricating moving parts, and inspecting tape head blades for wear. Regular calibration of tension settings may also be required.

• Can this machine handle different tape widths?

• Is specialist training needed to operate a case taper?

• What are the typical space requirements for a machine of this type?

• Can this unit be integrated into an existing packaging line?

Used sealing machines are generally valued for their durability and long operational life. Buyers typically prioritize machines with clear maintenance histories and minimal wear on sealing components. Key considerations include film compatibility, seal quality consistency, and ease of adjustment. Reputable models tend to retain functionality well across multiple applications. Industry sentiment suggests these machines offer strong value when sourced from reliable vendors, though operators should verify calibration settings and test seal integrity before full production use.
