DSI 15 Station Horizontal Plate Freezer

• Used for rapid freezing of packaged food products, often in block form.
• Commonly found in seafood processing for freezing fish fillets or whole fish blocks.
• Utilised in meat processing for freezing minced meat blocks or offal.
• Applied in the poultry industry for freezing chicken portions or by-products.
• Suitable for freezing certain fruit and vegetable purees or concentrates in block form.

Typical capacity

For a 15-station unit, throughput can vary significantly based on product thickness and refrigerant, but typically ranges from 500 kg to 2000 kg per batch.

Power supply

Units of this class commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with varying amperage depending on the compressor unit.

Refrigerant type

Horizontal plate freezers commonly operate with refrigerants such as Ammonia (NH3) or various HFCs. Buyers should confirm the specific refrigerant used in this unit.

Plate dimensions

The freezing plates typically accommodate product blocks of standard industrial sizes, often around 800mm x 600mm or 1000mm x 500mm. Exact dimensions should be confirmed with the seller.

Freezing time

Typical freezing times for products in a horizontal plate freezer range from 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on product thickness, initial temperature, and desired core temperature.

Construction material

The frame and external panels are typically constructed from stainless steel for hygiene and durability in food processing environments. Freezing plates are commonly made from extruded aluminium.

• What is a DSI 15 Station Horizontal Plate Freezer?

A DSI 15 Station Horizontal Plate Freezer is an industrial freezing unit designed for efficient, rapid freezing of products, typically in uniform blocks, between refrigerated plates. '15 Station' refers to the number of freezing plates available.

• What are the advantages of using a horizontal plate freezer?

• What kind of products can be frozen in this equipment?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used plate freezer?

• Can this unit be integrated into an existing processing line?

• What should I check when buying a used DSI plate freezer?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
