Meyn Compact Spiral Freezer

• Rapid freezing of bakery products such as bread, pastries, and cakes.
• Processing of prepared meals, including ready meals, pizzas, and convenience foods.
• Freezing of various meat, poultry, and fish products.
• Suitable for freezing fruits and vegetables, both whole and processed.
• Used in dairy for freezing ice cream products and desserts.

Typical capacity

For this class of compact spiral freezer, capacities typically range from 500 kg/h to 2,000 kg/h, depending on product type and temperature requirements.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 400V, 3-phase, 50Hz electrical supply, with power consumption varying based on compressor size and operational load.

Refrigerant type

While this unit uses Freon, modern installations or refurbished units may utilise more environmentally friendly refrigerants such as ammonia or CO2.

Footprint

Compact spiral freezers are designed to minimise floor space, typically requiring a footprint of 5m x 5m to 8m x 8m for the freezer cabinet itself.

Belt width

Belt widths commonly range from 400mm to 800mm for compact models, accommodating various product sizes and throughput needs.

Construction material

All stainless steel construction is standard for food processing equipment of this nature, ensuring hygiene and durability.

Temperature range

Operating temperatures typically range from -35°C to -45°C within the freezer chamber, suitable for rapid freezing.

• What are the advantages of a compact spiral freezer?

Compact spiral freezers offer significant space savings compared to linear freezers, making them ideal for facilities with limited floor area. They also provide continuous processing for high throughput.

• Is this unit suitable for IQF (Individual Quick Freezing)?

• What maintenance is typically required for a spiral freezer?

• Can the belt width or number of tiers be modified?

• What are the considerations for installing a used spiral freezer?

• What is the typical lifespan of a well-maintained spiral freezer?

Spiral freezers are valued in food processing for their compact footprint and efficient product handling. Buyers typically appreciate their gentle freezing action, which preserves product quality and texture. When purchasing used equipment, inspection of the spiral belt condition and refrigeration system performance is essential. The stainless steel construction generally resists corrosion well in demanding environments. Common considerations include maintenance costs and spare parts availability, though reliability across production runs remains a noted strength.
