Probat UW800/2

• Grinding roasted coffee beans for various brewing methods, from espresso to filter.
• Processing other dry, brittle food products requiring precise particle size reduction.
• Milling spices or grains where a consistent, fine grind is essential.
• Industrial-scale production environments requiring high throughput and reliable milling.

Typical throughput

For this class of roll mill, throughput can range significantly based on desired grind size, commonly from 2000 kg/hour for espresso to over 4000 kg/hour for coarser filter grinds.

Grinding mechanism

Utilises multiple sets of hardened steel rollers to achieve a precise and uniform particle size distribution, characteristic of industrial roll mills.

Power supply

Typically requires a robust three-phase industrial power supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz in the UK, with appropriate motor ratings for continuous operation.

Footprint

Industrial roll mills of this capacity generally have a substantial footprint, requiring dedicated floor space and often significant headroom for loading and discharge.

Construction materials

Commonly constructed from heavy-duty cast iron or steel, with food-grade contact parts where applicable, ensuring durability and hygiene.

Adjustability

Units of this type typically feature adjustable roller gaps to control the fineness of the grind, allowing for versatility across different product specifications.

• What maintenance is typically required for a Probat UW800/2 roll mill?

Routine maintenance commonly involves checking and adjusting roller gaps, cleaning grinding chambers, lubricating bearings, and inspecting wear parts such as rollers and seals. Regular calibration ensures consistent grind quality.

• Can this machine be used for products other than coffee?

• What are the advantages of a roll mill over other grinding technologies?

• Is it possible to get spare parts for older Probat models like the UW800/2?

• What safety features are commonly found on these industrial grinders?

Food processing mills are valued for consistent particle size reduction across grain, spice and dry ingredient applications. Buyers typically prioritise motor condition, grinding chamber cleanliness and wear on grinding elements when purchasing used equipment. Industry sentiment highlights reliability and longevity as key strengths, particularly with well-maintained units. Attention should be given to throughput capacity matching production needs and compatibility with existing systems. Corrosion resistance matters for hygiene-sensitive environments. Reputable machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence in the secondary market.
