• Packaging individual food items such as confectionery, bakery products, and snack bars.
• Wrapping non-food items like medical devices, small hardware, and cosmetic products.
• Creating hermetically sealed packages for hygiene-sensitive products.
• High-speed packaging of products requiring a consistent and protective film wrap.

Typical capacity

Flow wrappers of this class typically operate at speeds ranging from 50 to 200 packs per minute, depending on product size and film type.

Power supply

Units commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with varying amperage based on motor size and heating elements.

Film materials

This type of equipment is typically compatible with a range of heat-sealable films, including OPP, BOPP, laminates, and some barrier films.

Product dimensions

For this class of machine, typical product dimensions can vary significantly, often accommodating lengths from 50mm to 300mm, widths from 20mm to 150mm, and heights up to 80mm.

Footprint

A flow wrapper with an extended infeed, such as this unit, commonly requires a floor space of approximately 3 to 5 metres in length and 1 to 1.5 metres in width.

Control system

Units of this era often feature PLC-based control systems with operator interfaces for setting parameters and diagnostics.

• What are the benefits of a refurbished unit?

Form-fill-seal machines hold strong reputations in food packaging for reliability and consistent output. Buyers typically prioritise machines with clear maintenance histories and verified production specifications. Key strengths include versatility across film types and product formats, alongside relatively straightforward operation. When purchasing used units, inspectors should examine seal quality consistency, film tracking accuracy, and the condition of heating elements. Machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence. Downtime for repairs is a common concern, so availability of spare parts and technical support merits careful consideration before acquisition.
