Grant QBD1 Digital Dry Block Heater

• Enzyme digestions and other biochemical reactions requiring precise temperature control.
• Nucleic acid hybridizations and denaturation processes.
• Sample preparation for analytical techniques such as PCR and electrophoresis.
• Incubation of cell cultures and microbiological samples.
• General laboratory heating tasks for reagents and solutions.

Typical capacity

This unit is a single-block dry block heater, commonly accommodating one interchangeable block designed for various tube sizes (e.g., microcentrifuge tubes, PCR tubes, test tubes).

Temperature range

For this class of equipment, the operating temperature typically ranges from ambient +5°C up to 130°C.

Temperature stability

Units of this type commonly offer temperature stability and uniformity of ±0.1°C.

Power supply

Dry block heaters for laboratory use are typically powered by standard UK mains electricity (230V, 50Hz).

Footprint

A compact benchtop design is common for single-block units, typically around 200-250mm wide, 200-250mm deep, and 100-150mm high.

Control

Digital temperature control with an integral timer function is standard for modern units of this type.

• What types of blocks are compatible with this unit?

This unit is designed for use with Grant QBD series interchangeable blocks. Buyers should confirm the specific block type required for their application with the seller.

• Is an external temperature probe included or required?

• What maintenance is typically required for a dry block heater?

• Can this unit be used for cooling applications?

• What is the typical heat-up time for a dry block heater?

Dry block heaters are valued in laboratory and biotech settings for reliable, uniform sample heating. Buyers typically appreciate their compact design, precise temperature control, and ease of use. When purchasing used units, checking calibration accuracy, element functionality, and power cord condition remains important. Industry sentiment favours models with consistent performance records and minimal maintenance history. Common strengths include rapid heat-up times, good temperature stability, and compatibility with standard microtubes and vials. Corrosion resistance in the heating block surface is often considered desirable for longevity.
