Cocoatown Melanger

• Producing fine chocolate liquor from roasted cocoa nibs.
• Grinding nuts and seeds for spreads and butters.
• Processing various food ingredients into smooth pastes or flours.
• Creating cosmetic bases and other non-food emulsions.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, capacities commonly range from 10kg to 65kg of input material per batch, yielding a higher finished product weight.

Power supply

Units of this type typically operate on a single-phase supply, commonly 220-240V, 50Hz, suitable for UK industrial environments.

Grinding mechanism

This model utilises roller stone technology, which is effective for fine grinding and conching processes.

Construction materials

Food-grade stainless steel is commonly used for contact parts, ensuring hygiene and durability.

Footprint

A melanger of this capacity typically requires a floor space of approximately 0.5 to 1 square metre.

Motor power

Motor power for units in this category is commonly in the range of 0.5 HP to 1.5 HP, depending on the specific model and capacity.

• What is the primary function of a melanger?

A melanger's primary function is to grind and conche ingredients, typically cocoa nibs, into a smooth, refined paste or liquor. The process also helps to develop flavour.

• Can this unit process other materials besides cocoa nibs?

• What maintenance is typically required for a melanger?

• How long does a typical grinding batch take?

• Is temperature control important during melanging?

Food processing mills are valued for consistent particle size reduction across grain, spice and dry ingredient applications. Buyers typically prioritise motor condition, grinding chamber cleanliness and wear on grinding elements when purchasing used equipment. Industry sentiment highlights reliability and longevity as key strengths, particularly with well-maintained units. Attention should be given to throughput capacity matching production needs and compatibility with existing systems. Corrosion resistance matters for hygiene-sensitive environments. Reputable machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence in the secondary market.
