Gram - Horizontal Plate Freezer With Compressor

• Rapid freezing of packaged food products such as fish fillets, meat blocks, and vegetables.
• Used in seafood processing plants for preserving catch freshness and extending shelf life.
• Suitable for batch freezing operations in industrial kitchens and food manufacturing.
• Often employed in the production of frozen ready meals and bakery items.
• Utilised in cold storage facilities for efficient product preparation prior to warehousing.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, freezing capacities typically range from 500 kg to 2,000 kg per batch, depending on product thickness and plate dimensions.

Number of stations

Units of this type commonly feature between 5 and 15 freezing stations, indicating the number of plates available for product placement.

Plate dimensions

Horizontal plate freezers typically have plate sizes ranging from 1000mm x 1000mm to 1200mm x 2400mm, influencing the usable freezing area.

Refrigerant type

Modern units often utilise HFC or natural refrigerants, while older models, like this one, may use Freon, which may require consideration for environmental regulations.

Power supply

Industrial plate freezers commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with motor ratings for the compressor pack often between 15 kW and 50 kW.

Condenser type

Units can be air-cooled or water-cooled; water-cooled condensers, as described, typically offer more efficient heat rejection but require a water supply and cooling tower or chiller.

Footprint

A self-contained horizontal plate freezer with an integrated compressor pack typically has a footprint of approximately 2.5m to 4m in length, 1.5m to 2m in width, and 2m to 2.5m in height.

• What is a horizontal plate freezer used for?

A horizontal plate freezer is designed for rapid, contact freezing of packaged or trayed food products. Products are placed directly between refrigerated plates to achieve quick and efficient freezing.

• What are the benefits of a self-contained unit?

• What does '7 station' mean?

• What does 'Freon' as a refrigerant imply?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used plate freezer?

• What is involved in 'overhauling' a plate freezer?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
