LOMA Systems

• Detecting metallic contaminants in packaged food products.
• Ensuring product safety and quality in confectionery and bakery lines.
• Inspecting pharmaceuticals for foreign object detection.
• Quality control in non-food industries, such as textiles or plastics, to protect downstream machinery.

Typical throughput

For this class of equipment, throughput can typically range from 10 to 60 metres per minute, depending on product size and line speed.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly operate on a single-phase 230V AC supply, 50Hz.

Detection sensitivity

LOMA IQ2 detectors are known for high sensitivity to ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel contaminants, typically down to sub-millimetre sizes depending on aperture and product effect.

Construction material

As described, these units commonly feature all stainless steel construction, suitable for washdown environments.

Control interface

Typically, these models feature a user-friendly digital interface for setup and monitoring.

Environmental rating

Many LOMA IQ2 units are designed to meet IP65 or higher ratings, making them suitable for demanding industrial environments.

• What types of metals can this detector identify?

The LOMA IQ2 series is designed to detect ferrous (e.g., iron), non-ferrous (e.g., aluminium, copper), and typically difficult-to-detect stainless steel contaminants.

• Is calibration difficult for this model?

• What does 'as is' condition mean for a metal detector?

• Can this unit be integrated into an existing production line?

• What maintenance is typically required for a LOMA IQ2?

Metal detectors for food processing remain reliable workhorses in quality control operations. Buyers typically value their durability and consistent contamination detection capability. When purchasing used units, inspecting calibration history and sensitivity settings proves essential. Industry sentiment favours machines with straightforward maintenance records and minimal downtime. Common strengths include robust construction, straightforward operation, and cost-effectiveness compared to new equipment. Prospective buyers should verify functional testing documentation and assess integration compatibility with existing production lines.
