Potato Peeling Line

• Large-scale potato processing for crisp manufacturers.
• Preparation of potatoes for frozen chip production.
• Processing potatoes for ready meal components.
• Supplying peeled potatoes to catering and food service industries.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, capacities commonly range from 500 kg/hour to several tonnes per hour, depending on the peeler and line configuration.

Power supply

Units of this type typically require a 3-phase industrial power supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz in the UK.

Peeling method

A 3m peeler suggests an abrasive roller or drum peeling mechanism, common for high-volume potato processing.

Line components

This line includes standard components such as conveyors, bulk hoppers, a peeler, an inspection table, a dip tank, and a linear weigher, indicating a comprehensive processing flow.

Material construction

Components in contact with food are typically constructed from food-grade stainless steel for hygiene and durability.

Footprint

A complete line with a 3m peeler and multiple stations will require a significant industrial footprint, typically several metres in length and width.

• What types of potatoes can this line process?

Potato peeling lines are generally designed to handle various common potato varieties. The effectiveness may vary slightly based on potato size and skin characteristics.

• What level of automation can be expected?

• How is waste managed with this equipment?

• What maintenance is typically required for a line like this?

• Can this line be adapted for other root vegetables?

Washers and peelers are considered reliable workhorses in food processing facilities. Buyers typically value models offering consistent performance and easy cleaning. When purchasing used equipment, inspectors commonly assess drum condition, motor functionality, and wear on rotating components. Industry sentiment favours machines with stainless steel construction for durability and hygiene compliance. Straightforward mechanical design generally means lower maintenance costs compared to more complex processing equipment. Availability of replacement parts remains an important consideration for long-term operation.
