Sartorius Combics3 Platform scale

• Used for accurate weighing of ingredients and finished products in food manufacturing.
• Suitable for quality control checks on incoming raw materials and outgoing goods.
• Applied in portioning and batching processes for consistent product formulation.
• Utilised in logistics and dispatch for verifying shipment weights.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, capacities commonly range from a few kilograms up to 300kg or more, depending on the specific load cell configuration.

Platform dimensions

Units of this type commonly feature platforms from 800mm x 800mm up to 1500mm x 1500mm, with 1000mm x 1000mm being a common size for pallet weighing.

Material construction

Typically, the platform and frame are constructed from stainless steel, suitable for hygienic environments and washdown procedures in food processing.

Power supply

Most industrial platform scales operate on a standard single-phase electrical supply, commonly 230V, 50Hz in the UK.

Connectivity

Modern units often include options for data output via serial ports (RS232) or Ethernet for integration with production systems.

Environmental protection

For food processing, units commonly have an IP (Ingress Protection) rating of IP65 or higher, indicating protection against dust and water jets.

• What is the typical accuracy of a platform scale like this?

Accuracy for industrial platform scales is typically high, often to within 0.1% of the weighed load, with readability down to 50g or 100g for a 300kg capacity unit. Buyers should check the specific readability and linearity for the unit.

• Can this scale be integrated into an existing production line?

• What are the considerations for installing a platform scale?

Precision and portable balances are valued for their accuracy and reliability across laboratory and pharmaceutical settings. Buyers typically seek models with proven calibration stability and minimal drift over time. When purchasing used equipment, industry practice emphasises checking calibration certificates, verifying display functionality, and confirming availability of replacement parts. These instruments are generally regarded as durable workhorses that perform well if properly maintained. Key strengths include repeatability, compact design for space-constrained labs, and compatibility with existing analytical workflows.
