Thermo Fisher Scientific Sorvall RC6+ Centrifuge

• Separation of biological samples in research laboratories.
• Pelleting of cells and subcellular fractions.
• Purification of proteins and nucleic acids.
• Processing of samples for clinical diagnostics.

Typical capacity

Commonly accommodates a range of rotors, from microplates to larger volume bottles, typically up to 6 litres.

Maximum speed

For this class of equipment, maximum speeds can typically reach up to 22,000 RPM.

Maximum RCF

Relative Centrifugal Force (RCF) values commonly exceed 50,000 x g.

Temperature range

As a refrigerated unit, it typically maintains temperatures from -20°C to +40°C.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 200-240V, 50/60Hz single-phase power supply.

Footprint

Benchtop models typically have a moderate footprint suitable for laboratory benches, though specific dimensions vary.

• What types of rotors are compatible with the Sorvall RC6+?

The Sorvall RC6+ is typically compatible with a wide range of Thermo Fisher Scientific fixed-angle and swinging-bucket rotors. Buyers should confirm specific rotor availability and compatibility with the seller.

• Is this unit suitable for continuous operation?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used centrifuge?

• Can this centrifuge be used for large-volume processing?

• What safety features are commonly found on this model?

Centrifuges are valued across laboratories and biotech facilities for reliable sample separation. Buyers typically prioritise rotor compatibility, temperature stability in refrigerated models, and ease of maintenance when purchasing used units. Industry sentiment reflects appreciation for durable construction and consistent performance. Key considerations include verifying motor condition, checking calibration history, and confirming availability of compatible rotors. Well-maintained examples offer strong value and longevity, though wear on seals and bearings warrants inspection. Speed range and capacity alignment with intended applications remains important for operational efficiency.
