Horizon SPE-DEX 4790 Controller

• Environmental laboratories for water and soil analysis.
• Food and beverage quality control for contaminant detection.
• Pharmaceutical research and development for drug discovery.
• Chemical analysis for purity and composition assessment.

Typical throughput

Varies significantly based on the connected SPE system; controllers of this type typically manage multiple samples concurrently.

Power supply

Commonly operates on standard laboratory mains voltage, typically 230V AC for UK installations.

Connectivity

Often features serial (RS-232) or Ethernet ports for communication with a PC or LIMS.

Control interface

Typically includes a built-in display and keypad for direct operation, alongside software control options.

Dimensions (controller unit)

For this class of equipment, controllers are usually compact benchtop units, designed to integrate with SPE manifolds.

Compatibility

Designed to integrate specifically with Horizon SPE-DEX automated solid phase extraction systems.

• What is solid phase extraction (SPE)?

SPE is a sample preparation technique used to extract, concentrate, and purify analytes from a sample matrix by separating them based on their physical and chemical properties.

• What does an SPE controller do?

• Is this controller compatible with other manufacturers' SPE systems?

• What kind of maintenance does this unit typically require?

• Does this unit come with the necessary software?

Control units and PLC modules are valued for their reliability and precision in laboratory and pharmaceutical environments. Buyers typically prioritise units with clear documentation and verified operational history, as proper maintenance directly affects performance. Common strengths include robust construction, compatibility with existing systems, and long operational lifespans. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting calibration records and testing functionality before installation remains standard practice. These systems generally command steady demand due to their essential role in process automation and facility management.
