Barkey Plasmatherm Laboratory plasma thawer

• Blood banks and transfusion services for preparing plasma for patient use.
• Research laboratories requiring precise thawing of biological samples.
• Pharmaceutical production for thawing intermediate products or reagents.
• Hospitals and clinics for immediate preparation of plasma and blood components.

Typical capacity

Units of this type commonly handle 1-4 plasma bags simultaneously, depending on the model variant.

Temperature range

Typically operates within a controlled range of +35°C to +37°C for safe thawing.

Thawing time

For this class of equipment, thawing times are typically between 10-20 minutes for standard plasma bags.

Power supply

Commonly requires a standard single-phase electrical supply, typically 230V, 50Hz for UK operation.

Safety features

Units typically include audible and visual alarms for over-temperature, under-temperature, and cycle completion.

Construction materials

Often constructed with stainless steel or medical-grade plastics for hygiene and durability.

Footprint

Laboratory plasma thawers are typically benchtop units, designed for compact installation in laboratory settings.

• What types of blood products can this thawer handle?

This equipment is primarily designed for thawing fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and other frozen blood components, such as cryoprecipitate.

• Is precise temperature control important for plasma thawing?

• What maintenance is typically required for a unit like this?

• Does this unit require a water connection?

• Are safety features like alarms standard?

Thawing systems are valued for precise temperature control and uniform sample preparation in laboratory and biotech environments. Buyers typically seek models with reliable defrost capabilities and minimal sample degradation. When purchasing used equipment, condition of heating elements and temperature calibration accuracy are critical inspection points. Industry sentiment favors systems offering consistent performance and straightforward maintenance. Durability and reproducibility across batches remain key strengths, making quality units reliable investments for processing workflows.
