PA - Burnley Packaging

• Shrink-wrapping individual products for retail display or protection.
• Bundling multiple items together for transit or multi-packs.
• Applying tamper-evident seals to product packaging.
• Protecting products from dust, moisture, and damage during storage and shipping.

Typical throughput

Varies significantly by model, but for this class of equipment, typically ranges from 10 to 60 packs per minute, depending on product size and film type.

Power supply

Commonly found on units of this type are 3-phase electrical supplies, typically 400V, 50Hz, with power ratings often between 5kW and 15kW.

Tunnel dimensions (internal)

Typically, the internal aperture width ranges from 300mm to 600mm, and height from 100mm to 400mm, with tunnel lengths often between 800mm and 1500mm.

Conveyor type

Units of this type commonly feature mesh belt or silicone-coated rod conveyors, with variable speed control.

Suitable film types

Typically compatible with various shrink films including PVC, POF (polyolefin), and PE (polyethylene), depending on the heating system and film gauge.

Temperature range

For this class of equipment, operating temperatures are commonly adjustable, typically ranging from 100°C to 220°C.

• What is a heat tunnel used for?

A heat tunnel is used in conjunction with a shrink wrapper or L-sealer to apply heat to shrink film, causing it to contract tightly around a product or bundle. This creates a secure and protective package.

• What kind of products can be processed?

• Is this unit suitable for food contact applications?

• What maintenance is typically required for a heat tunnel?

• Can the conveyor speed be adjusted?

Used sealing machines are generally valued for their durability and long operational life. Buyers typically prioritize machines with clear maintenance histories and minimal wear on sealing components. Key considerations include film compatibility, seal quality consistency, and ease of adjustment. Reputable models tend to retain functionality well across multiple applications. Industry sentiment suggests these machines offer strong value when sourced from reliable vendors, though operators should verify calibration settings and test seal integrity before full production use.
