Frigoscandia Midget 118-405

• Freezing prepared meals, bakery products, and poultry.
• Rapidly chilling seafood and meat products.
• Processing fruits and vegetables for extended shelf life.
• Handling delicate products requiring minimal dehydration during freezing.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, throughput can vary significantly, typically ranging from 500 kg/hr to 2,000 kg/hr depending on product type and belt configuration.

Refrigeration capacity

Units of this type commonly require a refrigeration capacity in the range of 80 kW to 150 kW, depending on the product load and desired exit temperature.

Footprint

Spiral freezers are designed for a compact footprint relative to their belt length; a 'Midget' model typically occupies a smaller area compared to larger industrial spirals, but exact dimensions should be confirmed with the seller.

Belt width

Common belt widths for this series can range from 400mm to 800mm, influencing product size and throughput.

Power supply

Typically requires a 3-phase industrial power supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz, with specific amperage requirements depending on motor sizes and auxiliary equipment.

Construction material

Units are generally constructed from stainless steel for food contact surfaces and hygiene, with insulated panels for the cabinet.

• What is a spiral freezer?

A spiral freezer uses a continuous conveyor belt that spirals upwards or downwards within an insulated cabinet, allowing for efficient, continuous freezing in a compact space.

• What are the benefits of a Frigoscandia Midget model?

• Can this unit be moved easily?

• What kind of refrigeration system is needed?

• What maintenance is typically involved for a used spiral freezer?

Spiral freezers are valued in food processing for their compact footprint and efficient product handling. Buyers typically appreciate their gentle freezing action, which preserves product quality and texture. When purchasing used equipment, inspection of the spiral belt condition and refrigeration system performance is essential. The stainless steel construction generally resists corrosion well in demanding environments. Common considerations include maintenance costs and spare parts availability, though reliability across production runs remains a noted strength.
