Various Manufacturers

• Packing fresh produce such as tomatoes, berries, and stone fruit into retail-ready punnets or trays.
• Automating the weighing and filling of small, roundish fresh produce into containers.
• Sealing pre-filled trays or punnets for extended shelf life and tamper evidence.
• Labelling and collating packed produce for onward distribution or secondary packaging.

Typical throughput (sealing)

For this class of equipment, tray sealers commonly operate at speeds of 15-25 cycles per minute, sealing multiple trays per cycle.

Typical throughput (weighing)

Linear weighers of this type can typically handle 10-20 weighments per minute, depending on product and target weight.

Minimum/Maximum package weight

Weighers designed for fresh produce commonly handle package weights from 100g up to 1kg, with specific ranges varying by model.

Power supply

Industrial packing lines typically require a 3-phase electrical supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz, with specific amperage requirements varying by component.

Footprint

A combined packing line of this nature will require a significant operational footprint, typically spanning 10-20 metres in length, plus space for access and material handling.

Automation level

Units of this type commonly feature automated denesting, weighing, sealing, and labelling, reducing manual intervention.

• What types of punnets or trays can this line handle?

Packing lines of this type are typically designed to handle a range of pre-formed plastic or pulp punnets and trays, with change parts often required for different dimensions or materials. Buyers should confirm compatibility with their specific packaging.

• What maintenance is typically required for such a line?

• Can this line be reconfigured or expanded?

• What level of operator training is needed?

• Are spare parts readily available for equipment of this age?

Used sealing machines are generally valued for their durability and long operational life. Buyers typically prioritize machines with clear maintenance histories and minimal wear on sealing components. Key considerations include film compatibility, seal quality consistency, and ease of adjustment. Reputable models tend to retain functionality well across multiple applications. Industry sentiment suggests these machines offer strong value when sourced from reliable vendors, though operators should verify calibration settings and test seal integrity before full production use.
