Omega C8C Centrifuge

• Separation of biological samples in research laboratories.
• Processing of clinical samples for diagnostic testing.
• Concentration of cell cultures or protein precipitates.
• Preparation of samples for analytical techniques like PCR or chromatography.

Typical capacity

Often accommodates multiple microplates or a range of tube sizes, typically up to 4 x 250ml or equivalent.

Power supply

Commonly operates on standard laboratory power, typically 230V, 50Hz for the UK market.

Temperature range

For refrigerated models, temperatures typically range from -20°C to +40°C.

Maximum RCF/RPM

Units in this class typically offer maximum RCFs in the range of 20,000-30,000 x g, corresponding to RPMs of 15,000-20,000.

Footprint

As a benchtop unit, it typically requires a moderate amount of bench space, suitable for standard laboratory benches.

Rotor types

Commonly supports various interchangeable rotors, including swing-out and fixed-angle types, for different applications.

• What maintenance is typically required for a used Omega C8C Centrifuge?

Routine maintenance typically involves cleaning the rotor chamber, inspecting rotors for wear, and checking the refrigeration system (if applicable). Bearings and motor brushes may require periodic inspection or replacement on older units.

• Can this centrifuge handle different types of sample tubes?

• Is refrigeration standard on the Omega C8C model?

• What safety features are commonly found on this type of centrifuge?

• What is the typical noise level during operation?

Centrifuges are valued across laboratories and biotech facilities for reliable sample separation. Buyers typically prioritise rotor compatibility, temperature stability in refrigerated models, and ease of maintenance when purchasing used units. Industry sentiment reflects appreciation for durable construction and consistent performance. Key considerations include verifying motor condition, checking calibration history, and confirming availability of compatible rotors. Well-maintained examples offer strong value and longevity, though wear on seals and bearings warrants inspection. Speed range and capacity alignment with intended applications remains important for operational efficiency.
