Watson Marlow 505S Peristaltic Pump

• Accurate dosing and transfer of sensitive biological fluids in biotechnology.
• Precise dispensing of reagents and media in pharmaceutical research and development.
• Controlled flow of buffers and solutions in laboratory analytical processes.
• Sterile liquid transfer in cell culture and fermentation applications.

Typical Flow Rate

For this class of equipment, flow rates commonly range from microlitres per minute up to several litres per minute, depending on tubing size and drive speed.

Rotor Speed Range

Units of this type typically offer variable rotor speeds, often from a few RPM up to 220 RPM, allowing for fine control over flow.

Power Supply

Commonly compatible with standard laboratory power supplies, typically 100-120V or 220-240V at 50/60Hz.

Footprint

Peristaltic pumps in this category are generally compact, often measuring around 25-30 cm in width and depth, suitable for benchtop use.

Tubing Compatibility

Designed to accommodate various tubing materials and sizes, crucial for different chemical compatibilities and flow rates.

Control Interface

Typically features a basic control panel for speed adjustment, often with digital display for precision.

• What are the primary benefits of a peristaltic pump?

Peristaltic pumps offer contamination-free pumping as the fluid only contacts the inside of the tubing. They are also gentle on shear-sensitive fluids and provide precise, repeatable flow rates.

• How do I choose the correct tubing for my application?

• Is this pump suitable for continuous operation?

• Can this pump handle viscous fluids?

• What maintenance is typically required for a peristaltic pump?

Peristaltic pumps are valued in laboratory and pharmaceutical settings for their gentle, non-contact fluid handling, making them suitable for delicate samples and sterile applications. When buying used units, buyers typically prioritise checking tubing condition, motor functionality, and calibration history. Industry sentiment favours these pumps for their reliability, low maintenance requirements, and consistent flow rates. Common strengths include versatility across various fluid viscosities and compatibility with corrosive or shear-sensitive media. Prospective buyers should verify spare parts availability for specific models.
