APV Horizontal PF With 2016 Compressor Pack

• Freezing of packaged food products such as fish fillets, meat patties, and ready meals.
• Rapid freezing of delicate products to preserve texture and nutritional value.
• Batch freezing operations in seafood processing plants and commercial bakeries.
• Producing uniformly frozen blocks for efficient storage and transport.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, freezing capacities can range from several hundred kilograms to over a tonne per batch, depending on product and plate count.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 3-phase industrial power supply, typically 400V/50Hz in the UK, for the compressor and associated controls.

Number of stations

Horizontal plate freezers commonly feature between 10 and 25 freezing stations, with 13 stations being a common configuration.

Refrigerant type

Modern compressor packs, such as the 2016 Bitzer unit, typically utilise HFC or HFO refrigerants, subject to F-Gas regulations.

Footprint

The overall footprint for a horizontal plate freezer with an integrated compressor pack can vary, but typically requires a dedicated area of several square metres.

Product thickness

Plate freezers are designed for products with a consistent thickness, commonly up to 100mm, to ensure efficient heat transfer.

• What is a horizontal plate freezer?

A horizontal plate freezer uses refrigerated plates that are pressed against products to achieve rapid and uniform freezing. Products are typically loaded between the plates in trays or frames.

• Is the 2016 Bitzer Compressor Pack suitable for current regulations?

• What maintenance is typically required for this type of equipment?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
