Frigoscandia - 400 Spiral Freezer

• Freezing of bakery products such as bread, pastries, and cakes.
• Rapid freezing of prepared meals and ready-to-eat food items.
• Processing of poultry, meat, and seafood products.
• Freezing of fruits, vegetables, and other IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) goods.
• Chilling and freezing of dairy products like ice cream and desserts.

Typical throughput

For this class of spiral freezer, throughput can typically range from 500 kg/h to 2,000 kg/h, depending on the product and freezing requirements.

Operating temperature

Commonly operates at temperatures between -35°C and -45°C for effective freezing.

Refrigeration type

Typically designed for use with ammonia (NH3) or CO2 refrigeration systems, often requiring a dedicated compressor set.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with significant power draw for motors and the compressor.

Belt material

Belts are typically made from food-grade stainless steel or plastic for hygiene and durability.

Footprint

While specific dimensions are provided for this unit, spiral freezers generally require a substantial industrial footprint due to their vertical design.

Maintenance requirements

Regular maintenance includes belt inspection, cleaning, lubrication of moving parts, and refrigeration system checks.

• What is a spiral freezer?

A spiral freezer is an industrial freezing system that uses a long conveyor belt spiralling upwards or downwards within an insulated enclosure to achieve continuous, high-volume freezing in a compact footprint.

• What are the advantages of a spiral freezer?

• What kind of products are best suited for a spiral freezer?

• What should I consider when buying a used spiral freezer?

• Does a spiral freezer come with its own refrigeration system?

Spiral freezers are valued in food processing for their compact footprint and efficient product handling. Buyers typically appreciate their gentle freezing action, which preserves product quality and texture. When purchasing used equipment, inspection of the spiral belt condition and refrigeration system performance is essential. The stainless steel construction generally resists corrosion well in demanding environments. Common considerations include maintenance costs and spare parts availability, though reliability across production runs remains a noted strength.
