Jackstone Froster Horizontal Plate Freezer 15 station

• Freezing of packaged fish fillets and blocks.
• Rapid freezing of meat products, such as mince blocks or burgers.
• Processing and freezing of fruit and vegetable purees or concentrates.
• Freezing of poultry portions and by-products.
• Used in large-scale bakeries for freezing dough or prepared meals.

Typical capacity

For this class of 15-station horizontal plate freezer, capacity typically ranges from 500 kg/hr to 1500 kg/hr, depending on product type and thickness.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V/50Hz, with an associated power draw for the refrigeration compressor.

Refrigerant type

Older units, such as those from the mid-1990s, commonly used refrigerants like R22, though modern overhauled units may be converted to more environmentally compliant alternatives.

Plate dimensions

The freezing plates typically measure around 1200mm x 1200mm, though exact dimensions vary by manufacturer and model.

Freezing time

Typical freezing times for products in a horizontal plate freezer range from 60 to 180 minutes, depending on product thickness and initial temperature.

Footprint

A 15-station horizontal plate freezer commonly requires a floor space of approximately 3m x 2m, plus additional space for refrigeration plant and access.

• What is the primary advantage of a horizontal plate freezer?

Horizontal plate freezers offer efficient and rapid freezing of uniformly shaped, packaged products, ensuring good product quality and minimal dehydration due to direct contact freezing.

• Can this type of freezer handle unpackaged products?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used plate freezer?

• Is insulation important for these units?

• What factors affect the throughput of a horizontal plate freezer?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
