Caterpillar - DE220E0 (50 Hz) Caterpillar 220 kVA Diesel Generator Set

• Providing primary power for remote industrial sites or construction projects.
• Serving as a reliable backup power source for factories, data centres, or critical infrastructure.
• Supplying temporary power for events, emergency services, or disaster relief operations.
• Supporting agricultural operations requiring consistent power for irrigation or processing.
• Ensuring business continuity for facilities prone to grid instability or power outages.

Typical capacity

This unit is rated at 220 kVA, which is a common capacity for medium-to-large industrial backup or primary power requirements.

Power supply

As a 50 Hz unit, it is designed for operation within UK and European electrical grids. Output voltage is typically configurable, commonly 400/230V three-phase.

Engine type

Units of this model class commonly feature a Caterpillar C7.1 diesel engine, known for industrial reliability.

Fuel type

These generators operate on diesel fuel, with integrated or external fuel tanks commonly found.

Enclosure

Industrial diesel generators are typically housed in robust, weather-resistant enclosures, often sound attenuated for reduced noise.

Control system

Modern units commonly include advanced digital control panels for monitoring, protection, and operational management.

Maintenance requirements

Regular servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and coolant checks, is essential for optimal performance and longevity for this class of equipment.

• What is the typical lifespan of a used diesel generator?

The lifespan of a well-maintained used diesel generator can be extensive, often exceeding 15,000-20,000 operating hours. Regular servicing and proper load management are key factors.

• What kind of installation is required for a unit of this size?

• Are spare parts readily available for Caterpillar engines?

• What are the common environmental considerations for operating a diesel generator?

• Can this generator be used for both prime and standby power applications?

Power supplies and switch units for labs, biotech and pharma facilities are valued for their reliability and precision voltage regulation. Buyers typically prioritize robust build quality and consistent performance when purchasing used models. Industry sentiment favors units with clear maintenance histories and intact safety certifications. Key considerations include output specifications matching application requirements, remaining component lifespan, and compatibility with existing facility infrastructure. Reputable units from established manufacturers generally command confidence in laboratory and production environments.
