Gainsborough GV25

• Packaging granular products such as sugar, salt, or coffee.
• Sealing snack foods like crisps, nuts, or sweets into pouches.
• Forming and filling bags for powders, including flour or spices.
• Packaging small hardware items or components.
• Creating sealed bags for pet food or birdseed.

Typical throughput

For this class of equipment, throughput commonly ranges from 30 to 80 bags per minute, depending on product characteristics and bag size.

Power supply

Units of this type typically require a 3-phase electrical supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz, with an associated compressed air supply.

Machine footprint

A form-fill-seal machine like the GV25 typically requires a floor space of approximately 1.5m x 1.5m, plus space for ancillary equipment such as conveyors.

Bag material compatibility

These machines are commonly compatible with various heat-sealable film materials, including laminates and polyethylene.

Filling mechanism

The GV25, being a vertical form-fill-seal machine, typically integrates with volumetric fillers, weighers, or auger fillers depending on the product.

Maintenance requirements

Routine maintenance for such equipment typically involves checking wear parts, lubrication, and calibration of sealing jaws and film transport.

• What is a vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) machine?

A VFFS machine forms a bag from a roll of film, fills it with product, and then seals it, all in a vertical orientation. It is highly efficient for packaging a wide range of products.

• Is training required to operate this type of machine?

Form-fill-seal machines hold strong reputations in food packaging for reliability and consistent output. Buyers typically prioritise machines with clear maintenance histories and verified production specifications. Key strengths include versatility across film types and product formats, alongside relatively straightforward operation. When purchasing used units, inspectors should examine seal quality consistency, film tracking accuracy, and the condition of heating elements. Machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence. Downtime for repairs is a common concern, so availability of spare parts and technical support merits careful consideration before acquisition.
