Handling By Design - Incline Conveyor

• Transporting bulk food products from one processing stage to a higher one.
• Feeding packaging machinery with products from floor-level hoppers.
• Elevating ingredients to mixers or blenders.
• Moving finished products over obstacles on a production line.

Typical capacity

Typically designed for throughputs ranging from 500 kg/hr to several tonnes/hr, depending on belt width and incline angle.

Power supply

Commonly operates on a 3-phase industrial power supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with a motor rating often between 0.37 kW and 2.2 kW.

Belt material

For food processing, belts are typically food-grade PVC, PU, or modular plastic, often with cleats or sidewalls to prevent product rollback.

Incline angle

Units of this type commonly feature adjustable or fixed incline angles, typically ranging from 15 to 45 degrees, depending on product characteristics.

Construction material

Frames are typically constructed from stainless steel (304 or 316 grade) for hygiene and corrosion resistance in food environments.

Footprint

The footprint varies significantly with length and height, but for this class, a base area of 1.5m x 1m to 4m x 1.5m is common.

• What types of food products are suitable for an incline conveyor?

Incline conveyors are suitable for a wide range of bulk food products, including granular, diced, frozen, or individually quick-frozen (IQF) items. The specific product suitability depends on the belt type and cleat configuration.

• How do I determine the correct incline angle for my product?

• What maintenance is typically required for an incline conveyor?

• Are incline conveyors easy to integrate into existing lines?

• What safety features should I look for?

Buyers typically value conveyor systems for their reliability and longevity when well-maintained. Key considerations when purchasing used units include belt condition, motor functionality, frame integrity, and available spare parts. Industry sentiment emphasises the importance of verifying operational history and cleanliness standards, particularly for food handling applications. Common strengths include robust construction, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and cost savings versus new equipment. Reputable manufacturers' models tend to hold their value well and integrate readily into existing production lines.
