Ian Fellows Stainless platform scale

• Used for accurate weighing of ingredients and finished products in food manufacturing.
• Suitable for portion control and batch weighing in processing lines.
• Often employed in goods inward and despatch areas for verifying incoming and outgoing material weights.
• Can be integrated into quality control processes to ensure product weight compliance.

Typical capacity range

For this class of equipment, capacities commonly range from 10kg up to 3000kg, with specific units varying.

Platform material

Typically constructed from stainless steel for hygiene and corrosion resistance, suitable for washdown environments.

Power supply

Many platform scales are mains powered (e.g., 230V, 50Hz, single phase) or battery-operated for portability.

Readout display

Commonly features a digital display, often with tare and hold functions.

Connectivity

Some units offer data output options, such as RS-232, for integration with other systems.

Environmental rating

Units designed for food processing typically have an IP rating suitable for wet and dusty conditions.

• What maintenance is typically required for a stainless platform scale?

Routine cleaning, particularly after use in food environments, is essential. Periodic calibration by a certified technician is also recommended to ensure accuracy.

Precision and portable balances are valued for their accuracy and reliability across laboratory and pharmaceutical settings. Buyers typically seek models with proven calibration stability and minimal drift over time. When purchasing used equipment, industry practice emphasises checking calibration certificates, verifying display functionality, and confirming availability of replacement parts. These instruments are generally regarded as durable workhorses that perform well if properly maintained. Key strengths include repeatability, compact design for space-constrained labs, and compatibility with existing analytical workflows.
