Linemaster IV Scales

• Used in laboratories for precise measurement of samples and reagents.
• Suitable for quality control departments to verify product weights.
• Applied in small-scale production for accurate ingredient portioning.
• Utilised in educational settings for scientific experiments and demonstrations.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, capacities commonly range from 100g to 5kg, with readability often in the milligram or centigram range.

Power supply

Units of this type typically operate on mains power (230V AC, 50Hz for the UK) or via internal rechargeable batteries for portability.

Platform size

Commonly found with a weighing pan size suitable for small to medium samples, typically between 100mm x 100mm and 200mm x 200mm.

Display type

Most units feature a clear LCD or LED display, often with backlighting for improved visibility in various lighting conditions.

Calibration

Typically supports external calibration using certified weights, with some models offering internal automatic calibration routines.

Connectivity

Many precision balances include a serial port (RS232) for data output to printers or computers, and occasionally USB.

• What is the typical accuracy of a Linemaster IV scale?

While specific accuracy depends on the model, precision balances in this category are designed for high accuracy, often with readability down to 0.001g or 0.01g for lower capacities.

• Can this scale be used in a dusty environment?

• Is calibration required for used scales?

• What maintenance is typically involved for these scales?

• Are spare parts readily available for Linemaster IV scales?

Precision and portable balances are valued for their accuracy and reliability across laboratory and pharmaceutical settings. Buyers typically seek models with proven calibration stability and minimal drift over time. When purchasing used equipment, industry practice emphasises checking calibration certificates, verifying display functionality, and confirming availability of replacement parts. These instruments are generally regarded as durable workhorses that perform well if properly maintained. Key strengths include repeatability, compact design for space-constrained labs, and compatibility with existing analytical workflows.
