• Artisan coffee producers requiring precise roast control.

Typical batch capacity

For this model, a batch capacity of 12kg of green coffee is typical.

Heating method

Units of this type commonly utilise infrared gas burners, often configurable for LPG or natural gas.

Power supply

Typically requires a single-phase electrical supply for controls and motors, commonly 230V, 50Hz in the UK.

Cooling system

Integrated cooling trays with powerful fans are standard for rapid bean cooling post-roast.

Controls

Modern units commonly feature advanced digital controls for temperature, fan speed, and drum speed, often with profiling capabilities.

Footprint

While exact dimensions vary, units in this class typically require a floor area of approximately 1.5m x 1m, plus space for the cyclone and ventilation.

• What is the advantage of infrared burners in a coffee roaster?

Infrared burners typically provide a more consistent and even heat transfer to the coffee beans, which can lead to a more uniform roast and better flavour development. They are also often more energy-efficient.

• Is a cyclone always necessary with a coffee roaster?

• Can this roaster be converted to run on natural gas if it's currently set up for LPG?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used coffee roaster?

• What are the ventilation requirements for a roaster of this size?

Used roasters are valued for their durability and cost effectiveness in food processing operations. Buyers typically prioritise even heat distribution, temperature control consistency, and robust construction when selecting secondhand units. Industry sentiment favours roasters from established manufacturers known for reliable performance. Key considerations include maintenance history, heating element condition, and capacity matching operational requirements. Well-maintained roasters often deliver dependable service across coffee roasting, nut processing, and other food applications, making them sound investments for processors seeking to minimise capital expenditure.
