Output is a function of web width, advance length, impressions per cycle, and cycle time, which together set packs per minute. Deeper draws and thicker films slow cycles, so identical machines can produce very different rates on different products. Ask sellers for real cycle data on products similar to yours rather than calculating from maximum theoretical speed.

New forming and cutting tooling is a major line item, often a meaningful fraction of a used machine's price, which makes included tooling valuable. Dies transfer between machines of the same make and model family in many cases, but confirm dimensions and mounting before assuming compatibility. A machine already tooled close to your target format is worth a premium.

Flexible machines run soft films like PA PE laminates for vacuum packs, while rigid capable machines form PET and PP for structured trays. Forming temperature, draw depth, and sealing parameters all depend on film structure. Share your film specification with the seller, and where possible run a trial roll before completing the purchase.

Plan for three phase power, compressed air, chilled water for forming and sealing stations, and vacuum capacity, which is usually built in but sometimes external. Water quality and temperature stability directly affect pack quality. Sellers can share the utility schedule from their installation so your services can be confirmed before delivery.

Ask for the machine to run film under power during inspection, watch the web tracking, and examine formed pockets for consistent thickness. Check chain condition, seal frame flatness, and vacuum pump service history, since these drive the biggest repair bills. Records of recent production and maintenance tell you more than a cosmetic repaint ever will.
