Multivac 1310 Metal Detector

• Detecting metallic contaminants in packaged food products such as ready meals, baked goods, and confectionery.
• Ensuring product safety and quality control in pharmaceutical production lines by identifying metal particles in tablets or capsules.
• Inspecting non-food items like textiles, plastics, or chemicals for unwanted metal inclusions.
• Protecting downstream processing equipment from damage caused by tramp metal in raw materials.
• Complying with industry standards and regulations for foreign object detection in various manufacturing sectors.

Detection sensitivity

Typically configurable to detect ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel contaminants, with sensitivity depending on aperture size and product effect.

Aperture size

Commonly ranges from 150mm to 400mm in width and 100mm to 250mm in height, suitable for various product dimensions.

Conveyor speed

Units of this type typically operate at speeds between 10 to 60 metres per minute, depending on integration and product characteristics.

Power supply

Most units require a standard industrial power supply, commonly 230V, single-phase, 50Hz.

Construction material

Typically constructed from stainless steel (e.g., 304 or 316 grade) for hygiene and durability in food and pharmaceutical environments.

Environmental protection

Often rated to IP65 or higher, indicating protection against dust and water jets, suitable for washdown environments.

Rejection system

Commonly integrated with automatic rejection systems such as air blast, pushers, or retracting conveyors for contaminated products.

• What types of metal can this detector typically identify?

Units of this class are generally capable of detecting ferrous (iron), non-ferrous (aluminium, copper), and stainless steel contaminants. The specific sensitivity for each metal type will depend on the unit's configuration and the product being inspected.

• Is this unit suitable for wet or washdown environments?

• Can this metal detector be integrated into an existing production line?

• What maintenance is typically required for a metal detector of this type?

• How does the 'product effect' influence detection performance?

Metal detectors for food processing remain reliable workhorses in quality control operations. Buyers typically value their durability and consistent contamination detection capability. When purchasing used units, inspecting calibration history and sensitivity settings proves essential. Industry sentiment favours machines with straightforward maintenance records and minimal downtime. Common strengths include robust construction, straightforward operation, and cost-effectiveness compared to new equipment. Prospective buyers should verify functional testing documentation and assess integration compatibility with existing production lines.
