Ask for a recent performance record or a live pass with certified test pieces at the sensitivity your specification demands. Confirm the reject mechanism fires reliably and the control and coil are sound. A detector that cannot prove its sensitivity on demand will fail an audit.

The aperture must be large enough to pass your biggest pack but no larger, since a smaller aperture gives higher sensitivity. An oversized aperture weakens the field and reduces the smallest metal you can detect. Match the aperture closely to your largest product for the best detection.

Wet, salty and metallised products create a product effect that makes detection harder. Modern detectors compensate for this, but you should confirm the machine handles your specific product. Ask the seller whether it was used on a similar product with good sensitivity.

The product form decides the type, with conveyor units for packs, gravity units for powders and pipeline units for pumped liquids. Match the detector to how your product moves through the line. Using the wrong format compromises both detection and handling.

Qualifying listings carry a finance option, which spreads the cost of a detector or a complete contamination control stage. Look for the flag on the listing itself. You can also raise finance with the seller during your enquiry to see what suits your budget.
