What types of microplates can this shaker accommodate?

Microplate shakers are generally designed for standard SBS-format microplates, including 96-well, 384-well, and sometimes deep-well plates. Buyers should confirm specific plate compatibility with the seller.

Is temperature control typically integrated into these units?

Basic microplate shakers like this model typically do not include integrated temperature control. For applications requiring specific temperatures, an external incubator or temperature-controlled room would be necessary.

What kind of maintenance does a microplate shaker require?

Maintenance is generally minimal, involving regular cleaning of the platform and exterior. Periodic checks of the power cord and ensuring the motor runs smoothly are advisable. No specialist tools are usually required.

Can this shaker be used for continuous operation?

Many laboratory shakers are designed for continuous operation, but buyers should verify the duty cycle and any recommended run times with the seller for this specific unit to ensure longevity.

What is the benefit of variable speed control?

Variable speed control allows users to adjust the mixing intensity to suit different applications, from gentle mixing for cell cultures to more vigorous agitation for dissolving reagents or enhancing reaction kinetics.

Mixing reagents in biotechnology and pharmaceutical research.
Cell culture applications requiring gentle agitation.
ELISA assays and other immunoassay procedures.
General laboratory mixing of samples in microplates.

Typical capacity: Commonly accommodates 2 to 4 standard microplates (96-well or 384-well).
Shaking motion: Typically orbital, providing uniform mixing across the plate.
Speed range: Variable speed control, commonly ranging from 100 to 1500 RPM for this class of equipment.
Timer function: Many units feature a timer, often up to 99 minutes or continuous operation.
Platform type: Usually a non-slip rubber platform, sometimes with clamps for secure plate placement.
Power supply: Typically operates on standard laboratory mains power, e.g., 230V, 50Hz in the UK.
Footprint: Compact benchtop design, suitable for most laboratory environments.
