    PLM/1500/7600/B/G Double Pillar Goods Lift

This Goods Lift has a Safe Working Load of 1500 Kgs and a lift height of 7600mm. The lifting platform will be fitted with a Powered Roller Track Conveyor that will accept a single pallet at a time. The Goods Lift will have a straight through loading configuration so that the pallet is loaded at one face and exits at the opposite face. At the Upper Level, the pallet will be driven on via a powered roller track. At the Lower Level, the pallet will be loaded or unloaded via a fork lift truck.

The Goods Lift will be constructed from stainless steel grade 304 throughout. The Goods Lift is designed to be bolted to the floor without the need for a pit and will be bolted to the concrete plinth outside and braced to the structure of the building at the upper level. The goods lifting is accomplished via chains driven by a motor gearbox mounted at the top of the main column. We have not included the concrete plinth of cutting and re-cladding the access point at high level.

Safety Guard to BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards

The safety guard is constructed from 40 x 40 x 3mm stainless steel box section and 1.5mm sheet to meet the requirements of BS EN 14120:2015 Safety of Machinery Guards. This guard will reach to a height of 2200mm above the upper floor level, having a hinged door at each level through which the Goods Lift can be loaded and unloaded. Each door is electrically interlocked to prevent the Goods Lift being operated with a door open and in addition, the doors are mechanically locked closed whilst the Goods Lift is running. Each door may only be opened when the lifting carriage is at the appropriate level.

    Goods Lift Electrical Control

This Goods Lift is fitted with an IP65 Stainless Steel Control Panel which is mounted on the safety guard at a convenient position to give good maintenance access under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulation 1998 (PUWER). The control panel incorporates the following controls; Up, Down, Guard Release, Emergency Stop, Cleaning Key Switch and a Reset Facility. There will be a remote Stainless Steel push button station at the upper level incorporating the following controls; Up, Down, Guard Release and Emergency Stop.

Dual Upper and Lower end of travel limit switches are positioned to prevent inadvertent adjustment or damage but are easily adjustable by trained personnel for fine adjustment on site. The machine operation is latched so that pressing the respective ‘Up’ or ‘Down’ push buttons once will raise or lower the lift to the other floor level. Each time the Lift Carriage activates the upper limit switch, an electrical actuator will be driven out underneath the lift carriage to support it while it is loaded. Before the lift can move again, the actuator will retract automatically once the down button is pressed.

    Goods Lift Safe Access System

This Safe Access System will be fitted to your Goods Lift during manufacture to allow access to the inside of the safety guard at the lower level for maintenance and housekeeping. The Access System will operate as follows:-

    • The lift frame must be empty, at the full up position and the safety guard gate must be closed
    • At the full up position, the lift carriage is prevented from moving by a 50mm support bar driven out beneath the lift carriage using an electrical actuator
    • As the bar is engaged, it will alter the state of 2 off separate safety limit switches
    • The one switch will disable the goods lift safety circuit and relay
    • The second limit switch will allow the lower safety guard door to be opened providing that the Safe Access Key Switch has been operated
    • It is now safe to enter the goods lift enclosure with the machine disabled and the lift carriage supported
    • To re-instate the machine operation, the above sequence is reversed

    Applications & Use Cases

    • Transferring palletised goods between different floor levels in food processing plants.
    • Integrating with automated conveyor systems for vertical material flow.
    • Lifting ingredients or finished products in multi-story production facilities.
    • Providing vertical transport for goods in cold storage or cleanroom environments.
    • Facilitating efficient loading and unloading operations where forklifts are used at ground level.

    Typical Specifications

    Typical Safe Working Load (SWL)
For this class of equipment, SWL commonly ranges from 500 kg to 2000 kg, with some heavy-duty units exceeding this.
    Typical Lift Height
Units of this type commonly offer lift heights from 3 metres up to 10 metres or more, depending on application requirements.
    Platform Dimensions
Platform sizes are typically designed to accommodate standard Euro or UK pallets, often around 1200mm x 1200mm or larger for specific loads.
    Construction Material
Goods lifts for food processing are typically constructed from stainless steel (e.g., 304 or 316 grade) for hygiene and corrosion resistance.
    Power Supply
Commonly requires a 3-phase industrial power supply, typically 400V, 50Hz.
    Loading Configuration
Units can feature straight-through, 'L' shape, or 'U' shape loading/unloading configurations to suit facility layouts.
    Safety Standards
Expected to comply with relevant safety standards such as BS EN 14120:2015 for machinery guards and other applicable machinery directives.
    Installation Requirements
Many units are designed for floor-mounted installation, potentially requiring a concrete plinth, and may need bracing to the building structure at upper levels.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Goods lifts typically utilise chain-driven systems, hydraulic cylinders, or wire rope hoists, each offering different benefits in terms of speed, load capacity, and maintenance.
