What is a flow wrapper?

A flow wrapper is a horizontal form-fill-seal machine that creates a continuous seal around a product using a single roll of film, forming a 'flow wrap' or 'pillow pack'.

What does 'stainless steel construction' imply for a used machine?

Stainless steel construction indicates suitability for food-grade environments and offers good corrosion resistance, which is beneficial for longevity and cleaning in a used machine.

What should I consider regarding the 'as is, where is' basis for a used machine?

This means the buyer accepts the machine in its current condition and location. It is crucial to conduct a thorough inspection and assessment to ensure it meets your operational requirements.

Can this machine be adapted for different product sizes?

Many flow wrappers offer some adjustability for product length and height. However, significant changes may require specific change parts or modifications. Buyers should confirm the current setup and potential for adjustment with the seller.

What maintenance is typically required for a used flow wrapper?

Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing wear parts like belts, heaters, and knives, as well as lubrication and cleaning. Electrical and pneumatic systems also require periodic inspection.

A flow wrapper is a horizontal form-fill-seal machine that creates a continuous seal around a product using a single roll of film, forming a 'flow wrap' or 'pillow pack'.

Form-fill-seal machines hold strong reputations in food packaging for reliability and consistent output. Buyers typically prioritise machines with clear maintenance histories and verified production specifications. Key strengths include versatility across film types and product formats, alongside relatively straightforward operation. When purchasing used units, inspectors should examine seal quality consistency, film tracking accuracy, and the condition of heating elements. Machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence. Downtime for repairs is a common concern, so availability of spare parts and technical support merits careful consideration before acquisition.
