Gram - Horizontal Plate Freezer With Compressor

• Rapid freezing of packaged food products such as fish fillets, meat blocks, and vegetables.
• Used in food processing plants for efficient preservation and extended shelf life.
• Suitable for batch freezing operations where product integrity and quick freezing are critical.

Freezing stations

Units of this type commonly feature between 5 and 15 freezing stations.

Plate dimensions

Plate freezers typically accommodate product blocks ranging from 500x500mm to 1000x1000mm.

Refrigerant type

This unit is specified with Freon; other units in this class may use ammonia or CO2.

Condenser type

This unit features a water-cooled condenser; air-cooled options are also common for this class of equipment.

Motor power

For this class of equipment, compressor motor power typically ranges from 15kW to 50kW, depending on capacity.

Throughput

Typical throughput for horizontal plate freezers varies significantly with product type and plate size, often measured in tonnes per hour for continuous operations or kg per batch for static units.

Footprint

Self-contained units typically have a compact footprint, suitable for integration into existing processing lines.

• What is a horizontal plate freezer used for?

Horizontal plate freezers are designed for fast and efficient freezing of products, particularly those that can be formed into uniform blocks or placed in trays between freezing plates. This method ensures rapid heat transfer and maintains product quality.

• What are the advantages of a self-contained unit?

• What does 'was working when removed' imply?

• What does 'can be sold as is or overhauled' mean?

• Is Freon still a common refrigerant?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
