What is a multihead weigher used for?

A multihead weigher is used for accurately and rapidly weighing a wide variety of products by combining weights from multiple hoppers to achieve a target weight.

What does '16 head' refer to?

The '16 head' indicates the number of weighing hoppers the unit possesses. More heads generally allow for higher speed and/or greater accuracy.

What is an elevated conveyor's role in this line?

The elevated conveyor transports product from floor level up to the infeed of the multihead weigher, which is typically positioned high to allow gravity feeding to subsequent packaging machinery.

What is a product diverter?

A product diverter, in this context, directs the weighed product into multiple lanes or to different packaging machines, such as a thermoformer, for increased efficiency or varied pack formats.

Is this line suitable for washdown?

Ishida multihead weighers are commonly designed for easy cleaning and often feature washdown capabilities, particularly models intended for food processing.

Can this line be integrated with existing packaging machinery?

Yes, multihead weigher lines are designed for integration with various downstream packaging equipment, such as VFFS machines, tray sealers, or thermoformers, though specific interfaces may be required.

Typical context for this category of equipment. Always confirm specifics with the seller.

Precisely portioning confectionery, snacks, and dry pet food into bags or trays.
Accurately weighing fresh produce such as salads, frozen vegetables, and fruit segments.
Efficiently packaging hardware components, small electrical parts, and other non-food items.
Forming part of a high-speed line for packing biscuits, pasta, or cereals into retail packaging.

Typical capacity: For this class of equipment, throughput can typically range from 60 to over 200 packs per minute, depending on product characteristics and target weight.
Power supply: Units commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with specific amperage requirements varying by model.
Footprint: A complete line including an elevated conveyor, weigher, and gantry will require a significant floor area and head height, typically several metres in both dimensions.
Weighing accuracy: Ishida multihead weighers are known for high accuracy, typically achieving target weights with minimal deviation, reducing product giveaway.
Product compatibility: Commonly handles a wide range of free-flowing and semi-free-flowing granular or piece-form products.
Construction material: Typically constructed from stainless steel, suitable for food contact and washdown environments.

Filling machines remain sought-after on the secondhand market due to their durability and long operational lifespan. Buyers typically value models from established manufacturers known for robust construction. When purchasing used units, inspectors should verify seal integrity, calibration accuracy, and maintenance history, as these directly affect product consistency and line efficiency. Common strengths include straightforward mechanical design facilitating repairs and adaptability to different container sizes. Reliability and minimal downtime are frequently cited priorities among processors seeking cost-effective production solutions.
