LAC - U-Shaped Conveyor

• Transporting bulk ingredients such as grains, powders, or small food items within a processing line.
• Moving products between different stages of food processing, like mixing, packaging, or sorting.
• Accumulating or buffering products temporarily before the next processing step.
• Facilitating ergonomic transfer of materials in food production and packaging environments.

Typical throughput

For this class of equipment, throughput can vary significantly based on product density and belt speed, but typically ranges from hundreds of kilograms to several tonnes per hour.

Power supply

Conveyor systems of this type commonly operate on standard industrial electrical supplies, often 400V, 3-phase, 50Hz in the UK.

Belt material

Belts are typically made from food-grade materials such as PVC, PU, or modular plastic, chosen for hygiene and durability.

Frame material

The frame is commonly constructed from stainless steel for corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning in food environments.

Speed control

Units of this type often feature variable speed drives to adjust conveyor speed according to production requirements.

Footprint considerations

U-shaped conveyors are designed to optimise space, providing a return path for the belt within a compact area, reducing overall line length.

• What types of products are suitable for a U-shaped conveyor?

U-shaped conveyors are generally suitable for a wide range of free-flowing or semi-free-flowing food products, including powders, granules, small solids, and some packaged goods. The specific product suitability depends on the belt material and design.

• How easy is it to integrate a used U-shaped conveyor into an existing line?

• What maintenance is typically required for this type of conveyor?

• Are U-shaped conveyors reversible?

• What are the common benefits of a U-shaped conveyor design?

Buyers typically value conveyor systems for their reliability and longevity when well-maintained. Key considerations when purchasing used units include belt condition, motor functionality, frame integrity, and available spare parts. Industry sentiment emphasises the importance of verifying operational history and cleanliness standards, particularly for food handling applications. Common strengths include robust construction, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and cost savings versus new equipment. Reputable manufacturers' models tend to hold their value well and integrate readily into existing production lines.
