Multivac - Vacuum Packer

• Extending shelf life for perishable food items such as meats, cheeses, and prepared meals.
• Protecting sensitive electronic components and medical devices from moisture and contamination.
• Packaging non-food items like documents or small parts to prevent oxidation and dust.
• Marinating food quickly and effectively by drawing marinades into the product's fibres.
• Preparing food for sous-vide cooking, ensuring even cooking and flavour infusion.

Typical chamber size

For this class of equipment, chamber dimensions commonly range from 300mm x 350mm up to 500mm x 600mm, with varying depths.

Power supply

Units of this type typically operate on a single-phase 230V, 50Hz supply, though some larger models may require three-phase power.

Pump capacity

Vacuum pump capacities commonly range from 10 m³/h to 40 m³/h, influencing the speed of the vacuum cycle.

Material construction

Vacuum packers are typically constructed from stainless steel for hygiene and durability, particularly in food processing environments.

Seal bar length

Commonly found seal bar lengths for this type of unit are between 300mm and 600mm, allowing for various bag sizes.

Cycle time

A typical vacuum cycle for a unit of this specification can range from 15 to 40 seconds, depending on pump capacity and product.

• What is the difference between a chamber vacuum packer and an external vacuum packer?

Chamber vacuum packers create a vacuum within a sealed chamber, allowing them to package liquids and delicate items. External vacuum packers draw air directly from the bag and are generally suited for solid, dry goods.

• What type of bags are required for a chamber vacuum packer?

• How often does the oil in the vacuum pump need changing?

• Can this equipment be used for both food and non-food items?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used vacuum packer?

Vacuum packaging equipment holds a solid reputation in food processing for extending shelf life and maintaining product quality. Buyers typically prioritize seal consistency, chamber durability, and ease of operation when selecting used models. Industry sentiment favours machines with reliable vacuum pump performance and straightforward maintenance access. Common strengths include cost savings over new equipment, proven track records from established manufacturers, and compatibility with various packaging materials. Prospective buyers should inspect sealing bars, vacuum gauges, and prior service history carefully.
