PARCHIM THERMAL OIL BOILER

• Heating of industrial processes requiring high temperatures without high pressure, such as in chemical or textile manufacturing.
• Providing heat for drying processes in industries like timber, paper, or food production.
• Utilised in asphalt and bitumen heating applications.
• Commonly found in the plastics and rubber industries for mould heating and extrusion processes.

Typical thermal output

For this class of equipment, thermal outputs typically range from 100,000 kcal/hr up to several million kcal/hr, with units like this often around 300,000-500,000 kcal/hr.

Operating temperature

Thermal oil boilers are designed for high-temperature operation, commonly reaching up to 300-350°C, providing process heat without the high pressures associated with steam.

Fuel type

Units of this type commonly operate on natural gas, LPG, light fuel oil, or heavy fuel oil. Some larger or specialised units may use biomass.

Power supply

Typically requires a three-phase electrical supply for auxiliary components such as pumps and control systems, commonly 400V, 50Hz in the UK.

Footprint

The physical footprint for a thermal oil boiler of this capacity typically requires a dedicated plant room, with dimensions varying based on ancillary equipment like expansion tanks and circulation pumps.

Heat transfer medium

Uses specialised thermal oil as the heat transfer medium, which remains in a liquid phase at high temperatures, unlike water/steam systems.

• What are the main advantages of a thermal oil boiler over a steam boiler?

Thermal oil boilers operate at high temperatures without high pressure, reducing safety risks and eliminating the need for water treatment, blowdown, and condensate return systems associated with steam.

• What maintenance is typically required for a used thermal oil boiler?

• Is special training required to operate a thermal oil boiler?

• What is the expected lifespan of a well-maintained thermal oil boiler?

• Are there any specific regulations for operating thermal oil boilers in the UK?

Used steam boilers and generators typically earn respect for their durability and longevity when properly maintained. Buyers should prioritise checking maintenance records, pressure vessel certifications, and inspection documentation before purchase. Industry practice emphasises examining equipment for corrosion, scale accumulation, and tube condition. These units generally demonstrate strong performance across industrial and food processing applications when serviced regularly. Experienced purchasers value models with established spare parts availability and straightforward operational specifications.
