Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, throughput can typically range from 30 to 100 bags per minute, depending on product, bag size, and film material.

Power supply

Commonly, units of this type require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with varying amperage based on configuration.

Bag dimensions

Vertical form-fill-seal machines like the Rovema 220 are generally capable of producing bags with widths typically ranging from 50mm to 220mm, and lengths up to 350mm.

Filling mechanism

This unit is specified with a volumetric cup filler, suitable for free-flowing granular products, and includes a checkweigher for accuracy.

Footprint

A Rovema 220 with ancillary equipment such as a gantry and checkweigher would typically require a floor space of approximately 2m x 2m, plus access for maintenance.

Construction materials

Components in contact with product are commonly made from stainless steel, with the machine frame typically constructed from painted mild steel or stainless steel.

Air requirements

Pneumatic systems are commonly used for film handling and sealing, typically requiring a compressed air supply at 6-8 bar.

• What kind of film materials can this machine use?

Rovema VFFS machines are typically designed to work with a variety of heat-sealable film materials, including laminates, polyethylene, and polypropylene.

• Is this machine suitable for liquids or pastes?

• What level of operator training is required?

• How difficult is it to change bag sizes on this model?

• What spare parts are commonly needed for a used Rovema 220?

Form-fill-seal machines hold strong reputations in food packaging for reliability and consistent output. Buyers typically prioritise machines with clear maintenance histories and verified production specifications. Key strengths include versatility across film types and product formats, alongside relatively straightforward operation. When purchasing used units, inspectors should examine seal quality consistency, film tracking accuracy, and the condition of heating elements. Machines from established manufacturers generally command buyer confidence. Downtime for repairs is a common concern, so availability of spare parts and technical support merits careful consideration before acquisition.
