What maintenance is typically required for a used pipette?

Regular cleaning of the exterior, checking for tip cone wear, and periodic calibration are essential. Depending on usage, seals and O-rings may need replacement.

Can this pipette be used for viscous liquids?

While designed for aqueous solutions, it can handle moderately viscous liquids. However, accuracy may be affected, and specific pipetting techniques or positive displacement pipettes might be more suitable for highly viscous samples.

What is the benefit of an 8-channel pipette over a single-channel?

An 8-channel pipette significantly increases throughput when working with 96-well plates, allowing simultaneous transfer to multiple wells, saving time and reducing repetitive strain.

Is calibration included with a used unit?

Calibration is typically not included with used equipment listings. Buyers should factor in professional calibration upon acquisition to ensure accuracy and compliance with laboratory standards.

What are the common signs of wear to look for in a used manual pipette?

Inspect the tip cones for cracks or deformation, check the plunger mechanism for smooth operation, and ensure the volume adjustment dial functions correctly without slippage.
