Pallet Racking and Shelving
Floor space is the most expensive asset on any site, and racking and shelving are how you trade it for height. This category covers industrial racking runs, stainless steel shelving units, tray and crate racking and mobile storage racking, the structures that keep pallets, totes, tooling and work in progress ordered and reachable. Machinery Masters lists this equipment from verified sellers across the UK, from single shelving bays to racking cleared from complete sites. You compare bay sizes, materials and load ratings across live listings and deal with each seller directly, with financing available on qualifying listings.

Pallet Racking and Shelving Product Types
Storage structures divide by what they hold and the environment they stand in. These are the main types in the live listings.
Industrial pallet racking
Adjustable beam racking that stores palletised stock at height, specified by bay width, frame depth and beam load rating. Cleared runs from working warehouses appear regularly and are reconfigured to suit your aisle layout.
Stainless steel shelving units
Solid or slatted stainless shelving bays for washdown and hygiene-controlled areas, where galvanised or painted shelving corrodes. The most frequently listed type in this category, often available in matching multiples for fitting out a whole room.
Tray and crate racking
Racking built around standard trays and crates rather than pallets, holding each at a fixed pitch so stock stays accessible without restacking. Suited to parts stores, despatch areas and production buffers.
Mobile and buggy storage racking
Racking designed to park wheeled bins, dump buggies and trolleys in defined positions, keeping gangways clear and the fleet countable at a glance. Common in plants that move product in wheeled containers.
Racking-integrated handling
Racking combined with lifting or conveying equipment, such as tote bin racking with an integral lift, that loads the upper levels without a forklift. Listed as complete units with the handling element included.
Why Choose Machinery Masters
Verified Sellers Only
Every seller is verified before a single listing goes live. Machinery Masters also reviews listings for accuracy, so buyers can commit to high value machinery with confidence.
Global Reach
Listings come from sellers across Europe, North America, and beyond. That reach widens the options past any regional dealer network, and it is often the only way to find discontinued models in good condition.
Flexible Financing Options
Qualifying listings carry financing through partner providers. Terms are shown directly on eligible product pages, spreading the cost instead of draining working capital in one hit.
Direct Seller Contact
No broker sits between the buyer and the seller. Ask about service history, arrange inspections, and negotiate directly with the person who actually knows the machine.
Applications and Uses
Racking and shelving are bought by the bay and by the building. These are the settings where the listings in this category end up.
Warehouse and distribution storage
Pallet racking is the backbone of any distribution operation, and buying cleared runs cuts both cost and lead time against new steel. Beam ratings and bay sizes are matched to your pallet weights and forklift reach.
Washdown and hygiene areas
Stainless steel shelving holds utensils, tooling and ingredients in rooms that are hosed down daily. The same corrosion resistance suits chemical stores and plating shops.
Parts and maintenance stores
Tray racking and shelving bays keep spares, fixtures and consumables ordered in engineering stores and workshops, where single-bay listings avoid forcing a bulk purchase.
Factory clearance and relocation
When a site closes or moves, its racking is often the most reusable asset on the floor. Clearance listings offer multiple matching bays at once, which keeps a new installation uniform.
Benefits from Machinery Masters
The marketplace is built for the way storage equipment is actually bought, in whole runs one year and single bays the next.
01
Bulk runs and single bays alike
Listings range from individual shelving units to multi-bay clearance lots, so you can fit out a whole warehouse or add one bay to an existing room in the same search.
02
Steelwork where used means little compromise
Racking and shelving have no wearing parts beyond connectors and feet, so sound used structures perform identically to new at a much lower price.
03
Dimensions and ratings from the seller
Bay width, frame depth, shelf pitch and load rating decide whether storage fits your stock, and you confirm all of them directly with the seller before buying.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pallet Racking and Shelving
Check uprights for impact damage, twists and corrosion at the baseplates, and beams for deformation and cracked welds at the connectors, because damaged members are condemned rather than repaired under SEMA guidance. Confirm beam locks are present for every beam. Ask the seller for close photographs of frame feet and connector points before arranging a visit.
Yes. Racking in use should be installed to the manufacturer's configuration, carry load notices, and be inspected regularly, with an expert inspection to BS EN 15635 at least annually. Sound used steel passes exactly as new steel does. Plan the install with a competent racking installer and book the first inspection as part of commissioning.
Beam load ratings depend on beam section, bay width and frame configuration, and they change when any of those change. Look for original load notices or manufacturer markings on beams and frames, and ask the seller for them in photographs. Where markings are missing, have a racking supplier or SEMA-qualified inspector establish ratings before loading.
In washdown areas, chemical stores and anywhere cleaning agents or salts reach the steel, yes, because galvanised and painted shelving corrodes and sheds coating into the room. In dry stores, galvanised shelving usually serves at lower cost. Check the grade with the seller, commonly 304, and inspect used stainless for pitting, which signals past chloride exposure.
Clearance racking is usually listed by the run or the building, dismantled by the seller or your contractor, and moved on flatbed transport as frames, beams and fixings. Buying one clearance keeps every bay matching, which simplifies both installation and inspection. Agree who dismantles, counts and loads the steel in writing before collection.
