DSI 12 Station Horizontal Plate Freezer

• Rapid freezing of packaged food products such as fish fillets, meat blocks, and vegetables.
• Suitable for high-volume production lines in seafood processing plants and cold storage facilities.
• Used in the pharmaceutical industry for freezing sensitive biological materials in a controlled manner.
• Often employed in the dairy sector for freezing blocks of butter or other solidified products.

Number of stations

This specific unit is listed as 12-station, though the model name suggests 15. Buyers should confirm the exact configuration with the seller.

Refrigerant type

This unit is specified for an ammonia system, common for its efficiency in industrial freezing applications.

Plate dimensions

Typically, horizontal plate freezers feature plates ranging from 1000mm x 1200mm to 1200mm x 2400mm, influencing product throughput.

Freezing capacity

For this class of equipment, freezing capacity can range from 500 kg/hr to several tonnes per hour, depending on product and plate configuration.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a 3-phase industrial power supply, typically 400V, 50Hz in the UK.

Temperature range

Plate freezers typically operate at temperatures down to -40°C, suitable for deep freezing.

Product form

Designed for freezing products in uniform blocks or cartons that can be placed directly between the plates.

• What is a horizontal plate freezer used for?

A horizontal plate freezer is used for rapidly freezing products that can be placed directly between refrigerated plates, ensuring efficient heat transfer and uniform freezing of packaged goods or blocks.

• What are the benefits of using an ammonia refrigeration system?

• What maintenance is typically required for a DSI horizontal plate freezer?

• Can this unit be integrated into an existing processing line?

• What does '12 Station' refer to?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
