Grundfos CRN9 Vertical Water Pump

• Industrial water supply and distribution systems.
• Booster systems for high-rise buildings and commercial properties.
• Water treatment plants for filtration and reverse osmosis.
• Irrigation systems in agriculture and horticulture.
• Circulation in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, flow rates commonly range from 1 to 180 m³/hr.

Head (H max)

Units of this type typically achieve heads from 10 to 330 metres.

Power supply

Commonly found with three-phase motors, typically 400V, 50Hz, with power ratings from 0.37 kW up to 75 kW.

Motor efficiency

Modern units often feature IE3 or IE4 efficiency motors to reduce operational costs.

Materials of construction

Typically, wetted parts are made from stainless steel (e.g., AISI 304 or 316) for corrosion resistance.

Footprint

Vertical design minimises floor space requirements compared to horizontal pump configurations.

Seal type

Mechanical seals are standard, often available in various material combinations to suit different liquids.

• What does 'vertical' mean for a pump?

A vertical pump has its motor mounted above the pump casing, with the impeller shaft running vertically. This design saves floor space and can be advantageous for certain installation layouts.

• What is the significance of 'CRN' in the model name?

• Can this pump handle abrasive fluids?

• Is a variable frequency drive (VFD) compatible with this pump?

• What maintenance is typically required for a pump of this type?

Food handling and transfer pumps are valued for their reliability and durability in processing environments. Buyers typically prioritise checking mechanical condition, seal integrity, and corrosion resistance when purchasing used units. Industry sentiment highlights their longevity when properly maintained. Key strengths include robust construction, compatibility with various food-grade materials, and relatively straightforward servicing. Buyers should verify documentation of previous applications and inspect internal components for wear or damage.
