Potato Peeling Line

• Large-scale potato processing for crisp manufacturers.
• Preparation of potatoes for frozen chip production.
• Supply of peeled potatoes to ready-meal producers.
• Processing potatoes for institutional catering suppliers.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, processing lines commonly handle several tonnes of potatoes per hour, depending on the specific peeler and conveyor configurations.

Power supply

Units of this type typically require a 3-phase industrial power supply, commonly 400V, 50Hz, with varying amperage requirements for motors and control systems.

Peeling method

The 3m peeler suggests an abrasive or carborundum peeling method, common for robust and efficient skin removal on potatoes.

Line components

This line includes bulk hoppers for raw product intake, conveyors for transport, a peeler, an inspection table for quality control, a dip tank for post-peeling treatment, and a linear weigher for portioning or batching.

Footprint

A complete processing line of this nature will require a significant operational footprint, typically spanning several metres in length and width, depending on the layout of individual components.

Material construction

Components in contact with food are commonly constructed from stainless steel to meet hygiene standards and ensure durability.

• What kind of maintenance does a potato peeling line typically require?

Regular maintenance commonly involves checking and replacing abrasive surfaces on the peeler, inspecting conveyor belts and rollers for wear, lubricating moving parts, and ensuring all sensors and control systems are functioning correctly.

• Can this line process other root vegetables?

• What is the purpose of the dip tank?

• Is specialist installation required for this type of equipment?

• What are the common wear parts on a peeler?

Washers and peelers are considered reliable workhorses in food processing facilities. Buyers typically value models offering consistent performance and easy cleaning. When purchasing used equipment, inspectors commonly assess drum condition, motor functionality, and wear on rotating components. Industry sentiment favours machines with stainless steel construction for durability and hygiene compliance. Straightforward mechanical design generally means lower maintenance costs compared to more complex processing equipment. Availability of replacement parts remains an important consideration for long-term operation.
