Washer

• Cleaning root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and parsnips prior to further processing or packaging.
• Washing leafy greens and fruits in preparation for fresh-cut produce lines.
• Removing soil, debris, and surface contaminants from various food items in commercial kitchens and processing plants.
• Preparing produce for peeling, slicing, dicing, or blanching operations.

Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, capacities typically range from 250 kg/hr to over 2000 kg/hr, depending on the design and product.

Power supply

Units commonly require a 3-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, 50Hz, with varying motor power based on size and design.

Water consumption

Water usage varies significantly; units often incorporate spray bars or immersion tanks, with some offering water recirculation options.

Construction material

Food-grade stainless steel (e.g., 304 or 316) is commonly used for all contact parts to ensure hygiene and corrosion resistance.

Footprint

The physical dimensions can vary widely, from compact stand-alone units to larger integrated systems, requiring consideration of available floor space.

Cleaning mechanism

Common mechanisms include rotating brushes, high-pressure spray nozzles, or gentle tumbling in water, selected based on product fragility and desired cleanliness.

• What types of vegetables can this washer process?

Washers of this type are generally suitable for a wide range of vegetables, including root vegetables, leafy greens, and some fruits. The specific suitability depends on the washer's design and cleaning mechanism.

• Is this unit suitable for continuous operation?

• What are the typical maintenance requirements for a vegetable washer?

• Can this washer be integrated into an existing processing line?

• What are the hygiene standards for this type of equipment?

Washers and peelers are considered reliable workhorses in food processing facilities. Buyers typically value models offering consistent performance and easy cleaning. When purchasing used equipment, inspectors commonly assess drum condition, motor functionality, and wear on rotating components. Industry sentiment favours machines with stainless steel construction for durability and hygiene compliance. Straightforward mechanical design generally means lower maintenance costs compared to more complex processing equipment. Availability of replacement parts remains an important consideration for long-term operation.
