Heat Exchangers

Heat Exchangers

Every litre of juice, milk, sauce or soup that moves through a modern plant passes through a heat exchanger, often several times. This collection covers plate, tubular and scraped surface heat exchangers from verified sellers, in duties from gentle warming to rapid pasteurisation and deep chilling. Regeneration sections, multi stage configurations and aseptic ready designs all feature among the listings. Because you deal with sellers directly, questions about plate packs, seals and thermal ratings get answered quickly, and financing is available on qualifying listings.

Heat Exchanger Product Types

The right exchanger type depends almost entirely on product viscosity and particulate content. The main designs listed in this collection are described below.

Plate Heat Exchangers

Corrugated stainless plates create high turbulence and efficient heat transfer for thin, clean liquids like milk, juice and beer. Plate packs can be expanded or reconfigured to change duty, which makes them adaptable as production grows.

Tubular Heat Exchangers

Product flows through tubes surrounded by the heating or cooling medium, tolerating pulp, fibres and small particulates that would block a plate pack. Multi tube and corrugated tube designs improve transfer rates on viscous products.

Scraped Surface Heat Exchangers

Rotating blades continuously clean the product from the heated cylinder wall, essential for very viscous, sticky or crystallising products. Standard duty for margarine, fruit preparations and heat sensitive concentrates.

Shell and Tube Exchangers

A robust industrial workhorse for utility duties such as hot water generation, CIP heating and glycol cooling circuits. Simple construction keeps maintenance straightforward and parts inexpensive.

Regenerative Exchanger Sections

Regeneration stages use outgoing hot product to preheat incoming cold product, recovering most of the thermal energy in a pasteurisation loop. High regeneration efficiency cuts steam and chilled water demand dramatically.

Why Choose Machinery Masters

Verified Sellers Only

Every seller is verified before a single listing goes live. Machinery Masters also reviews listings for accuracy, so buyers can commit to high value machinery with confidence.

Global Reach

Listings come from sellers across Europe, North America, and beyond. That reach widens the options past any regional dealer network, and it is often the only way to find discontinued models in good condition.

Flexible Financing Options

Qualifying listings carry financing through partner providers. Terms are shown directly on eligible product pages, spreading the cost instead of draining working capital in one hit.

Direct Seller Contact

No broker sits between the buyer and the seller. Ask about service history, arrange inspections, and negotiate directly with the person who actually knows the machine.

Applications and Uses

Heat exchangers do quiet, continuous work in nearly every liquid processing plant. Typical installations for the units in this collection include the following.

Dairy Pasteurisation

Plate exchangers with regeneration sections heat milk to pasteurisation temperature and cool it again within seconds. Holding tubes and diversion valves complete the validated safety loop.

Juice and Beverage Processing

Tubular systems handle pulpy juices and smoothie bases that would foul plates, ahead of hot filling or aseptic packing. Gentle heating protects fresh flavour and vitamin content.

Sauce and Concentrate Cooling

Scraped surface units cool thick, sticky products quickly enough to protect quality and meet chilled storage targets. Continuous scraping keeps heat transfer stable where static surfaces would coat and insulate.

Brewery Wort Cooling

Plate exchangers drop wort from boiling to pitching temperature in a single fast pass, often recovering heat into brewing liquor. Rapid cooling limits contamination risk in this vulnerable process window.

Benefits from Machinery Masters

Heat exchangers are long lived precision plant, exactly what an open marketplace sources well.

01

Plates, Tubes and Scraped Surfaces Listed Together

The listings span the full viscosity range, from thin juices for plate packs to barely pumpable pastes for scraped surface machines, all inside the cooking and thermal processing equipment category.

02

Recertified Plant at Working Prices

A pressure tested used heat exchanger with a fresh gasket set performs to its original duty, and the saving against new often covers service and installation.

03

Duty Data Direct From the Holder

Plate counts, material certificates and thermal design sheets come from the seller who owns the unit, which shortens technical qualification.

Frequently Asked Questions About Heat Exchangers

Viscosity and particulates decide it. Thin, clean liquids run best through plates, products with pulp or small particles need tubular designs, and very viscous or crystallising products require scraped surface machines. If your product changes character with temperature, size the exchanger for its most viscous state, not its average.

Ask for a recent pressure test, inspect plates for cracking and corrosion around the ports, and check gasket age since rubber hardens over time regardless of use. Confirm the plate material suits your product, particularly chloride levels which attack standard stainless grades. Frame condition and tightening dimension records indicate how carefully the unit was maintained.

Plate exchangers are the most flexible, since adding or removing plates within the frame's capacity changes the thermal duty. Tubular and scraped surface units are essentially fixed, so buy them against your actual flow rates and temperature programme. Sellers can usually supply the original thermal design sheet, which is the document your process engineer will want.

Exchangers must be cleaned in place at flow rates high enough to scour the product channels, which sometimes exceeds the production flow rate. Confirm your CIP set can deliver the required flow and temperature before finalising the purchase. Scraped surface machines also need periodic blade and seal inspection as part of the hygiene routine.

Because listings are machines sellers already hold, delivery is usually a matter of transport arrangements rather than manufacturing lead time. You agree collection or delivery terms directly with the seller during the enquiry. For urgent duty replacements this speed advantage over new build lead times is often the deciding factor.
