What is a steam jacketed mixing vessel?

It is a vessel with an outer shell (jacket) through which steam circulates to heat the inner vessel's contents. An internal agitator ensures even temperature distribution and thorough mixing.

What kind of steam supply is needed?

These vessels typically require a clean, dry steam supply at a specific pressure, which should be confirmed with the seller. A steam generator or boiler is usually necessary.

How is the mixing controlled?

Mixing is typically controlled via a motor-driven agitator, often with variable speed settings. The control panel usually allows for adjustment of mixing intensity and duration.

What are the common maintenance requirements?

Regular cleaning and sanitisation are essential. Maintenance typically involves checking seals, bearings, and agitator components, as well as inspecting steam lines and valves.

Can this vessel be used for cooling as well?

While primarily designed for heating, some steam jackets can be adapted for cooling by circulating chilled water or other cooling media. This capability should be confirmed with the seller.

What safety features are commonly found on these units?

Common safety features include pressure relief valves for the steam jacket, emergency stop buttons, and interlocks to prevent operation when access hatches are open.

Used cooking vessels and kettles are valued in food processing for reliable thermal performance when properly maintained. Buyers typically prioritise construction quality, material condition, and heating system functionality. Key considerations include capacity specifications, internal surface condition, and seal integrity. These units generally offer good value when sourced from reputable previous operators. Industry sentiment favours equipment with documented service history and minimal corrosion. Stainless steel variants are particularly sought after for durability and hygiene compliance in commercial food preparation environments.
