Typical batch capacity

For this model class, batch capacities commonly range from 15kg to 30kg of green coffee beans.

Heating method

Units of this type typically utilise gas (LPG or natural gas) for the roasting process, often combined with electric components for controls and motors.

Power supply

Commonly requires a three-phase electrical supply, typically 400V, for motors and control systems.

Cooling system

Integrated cooling trays with powerful fans are standard for rapidly cooling roasted beans.

Control system

Typically features manual and/or semi-automatic controls for temperature, airflow, and drum speed.

Construction material

Roasting drums and critical components are generally constructed from durable materials such as cast iron or stainless steel.

• What kind of ventilation is required for a coffee roaster like this?

A dedicated exhaust system is essential to manage smoke, chaff, and odours produced during the roasting process. This typically includes ducting to an external vent, often with a chaff collector.

• Can this roaster handle different types of coffee beans?

• What maintenance is typically involved with a used coffee roaster?

• Is training usually required to operate a roaster of this size?

• What is the typical footprint of a roaster in this class?

Used roasters are valued for their durability and cost effectiveness in food processing operations. Buyers typically prioritise even heat distribution, temperature control consistency, and robust construction when selecting secondhand units. Industry sentiment favours roasters from established manufacturers known for reliable performance. Key considerations include maintenance history, heating element condition, and capacity matching operational requirements. Well-maintained roasters often deliver dependable service across coffee roasting, nut processing, and other food applications, making them sound investments for processors seeking to minimise capital expenditure.
