Typical capacity

For this class of equipment, a 60kg roaster typically processes batches of green coffee beans up to 60 kilograms per roast cycle.

Power supply

Gas roasters commonly require a three-phase electrical supply for motors and controls, alongside a suitable natural gas or LPG connection for the burner.

Heating method

Units of this type typically utilise direct or indirect gas-fired heating elements to achieve the required roasting temperatures.

Ancillary equipment

A complete system commonly includes a cyclone for chaff collection, a destoner to remove foreign objects, and silos for green or roasted bean storage.

Cooling system

Integrated or external cooling trays with powerful fans are typically present to rapidly cool roasted beans and halt the roasting process.

Control system

Older models commonly feature manual or semi-automatic controls for temperature, drum speed, and airflow, often with analogue gauges.

• What maintenance is typically required for an older gas roaster?

Regular cleaning of the roasting drum, cyclone, and cooling tray is essential. Burner inspection, gas line checks, and lubrication of moving parts are also commonly required to ensure efficient and safe operation.

• Can this type of roaster be used for products other than coffee?

• What are the typical space requirements for a 60kg roaster setup?

• What kind of ventilation system is needed?

• Are spare parts generally available for older Petroncini models?

Used roasters are valued for their durability and cost effectiveness in food processing operations. Buyers typically prioritise even heat distribution, temperature control consistency, and robust construction when selecting secondhand units. Industry sentiment favours roasters from established manufacturers known for reliable performance. Key considerations include maintenance history, heating element condition, and capacity matching operational requirements. Well-maintained roasters often deliver dependable service across coffee roasting, nut processing, and other food applications, making them sound investments for processors seeking to minimise capital expenditure.
